This year the whole family went to Disneyland (all 18 of us). It was the funnest trip I have had a Disney - other than my honeymoon at Disney World. Truthfully, that was awesome. Anyways, it was a blast and here are a few pictures. Enjoy.

South Dakota

It's been a while since I updated this blog. Not much is new. I spent some time before Thanksgiving in South Dakota helping Joel with his bees again. It was very cold. I got some time to hunt Pheasants. Here is a picture. Yes, I know that I am fat, but I was also dressed in 5 layers (undershirt, long sleeve T-shirt, long sleeve flanel shirt, fleece jacket, and Gortex coat - so give me a break. The picture of the beehives was from last year. Enjoy!!!

In Memory

On the 26th of July, my dear sister in law Debbie passed away. Debbie was a wonderful person that loved her family dearly and will greatly be missed. For me, Debbie was very special. After the divorce of my parents, Debbie often visited my brother (Kenny), as they were dating, and found herself taking care of a little punk kid (me) that soon became her brother in law. She always helped around the house, whether it was cooking us a meal or doing a batch of laundry. As I look back, I remember tagging along to movies and going out on dates with Kenny and Debbie. I am pretty sure that wasn’t Kenny’s idea; it was Debbie’s concern for me as a youngster needing some love and attention and her kind and caring nature to step up to that challenge. I will certainly miss her and every July when the cherries are getting ripe, I will remember her calling me to see if it was a good time to come up for a visit and to get some fresh cherries.

Swarms

I caught another swarm yesterday and my co-worker took a picture with his cell phone. The swarm was 3x larger than the first one I captured. I made a mistake by gathering it during the middle of the day. I should have waited until evening when all the field bees had returned. Then again, if I had waited the swarm could have relocated. Oh well, lesson learned. By the way, I haven't been stung yet. Notice I say yet.

BEES

Today I went out and retrieved my first Bee swarm. I got the call last night and decided I would pick it up early this morning. It was pretty easy to catch considering I had a new Bee-Vac. For plans of the Bee-Vac I used, go to Beesource.com

Mowed the Lawn

We have finally had some good weather so we all went outside today to play. I ended up mowing the lawn and Melissa pulled a few weeds. The girls played with Pepper and drove Emma's four wheeler. We all got a little sunburned.

April Fools Day

I have never really cared for April Fool's Day. Growing up with three older brothers, I often found myself the tricked fool. I remember as a kid opening a door to walk into a room and having a box of toys or bucket of water spill over my head. I also remember waking up to an alarm set several hours earlier. Well, now the Father of two daughters, that tradition has carried on and I again find myself the fool. It ends up little Emma found time to stuff the toes of my shoes with paper towels. Luckily it wasn’t tacks, or some sticky gel.

March 15, 2008 - Fremont Indian State Park

My good friend Chad Cottle came down to visit me for the weekend. We decided to take a little historical tour of Utah. We drove down to the Fremont Indian State Park (located on I-70 a few miles East of I-15). For those who enjoy Native American history, I would highly recommend visiting the park.
